An all church work day will be held on Saturday, October 13 at 9:00 a.m. Soon we will be giving details of specific tasks you can plug into, but for now, save the date.
On August 10 and 11 the Mission Force will be sponsoring a rummage sale as a fundraiser for future mission projects. SAVE THIS DATE -- more details will follow soon. (Also, volunteers are needed to help with set-up on August 9). See Erma Holcomb if you can help.
Our quilt show has been named “Patterned By God’s Design” ... so set aside the date of October 27, 2012 and plan to join us for this wonderful day of viewing the handiwork of women far and near. If you would like to volunteer to help out that day ... or in any of the planning or crafting to come ... contact Judy McKinnon (962-6025) or Sally Copeland (962-5668)..
We have a few last minute things left to finish up before the quilt show. We will have a little stuffing, a little stitching, a bit of gluing, and a lot of fellowshipping to do. If you are interested in helping, come join us on October 1 (Monday) at 1pm. For more information, call Sally Copeland (962-5668), Judy McKinnon (962-6025), or Carol Willmon (962-7528).
The soup social and baked goods extravaganza part of the Quilt Show is fast approaching. With your help we can make this a super soup social and an extra great baked goods extravaganza. Pick up a soup recipe in the foyer today or sign up for baked goods. Any questions call Barbara Burman (962-0606) or Therese Buchanan (962-6275). .
If you would like a copy of the 2012 Vacation Bible School DVD call Rudy Manzo at 962-5219. The price is $12.00. There are still a few copies left.
Now is a good time to start picking up those gifts to pack a shoe box for our outreach mission Operation Christmas Child sponsored by Samaritan's Purse. The national collection week this year is November 12-19, 2012, but we need our boxes by Thursday, November 15, in order to get them down to the collection center. Paulette Myers and I have set a goal of 100 boxes this year and we need your help to accomplish this. Please urge family and friends to join you in this worthwhile endeavor and let's put happy smiles on 100 faces this year!! There will be more information coming your way soon. Meanwhile start picking up small toys, school supplies, hygiene items, etc. when you are out shopping. (Please remember no war-related toys, chocolate or food items, liquids or lotions, or breakable items.) Thanks for your help.

Cavan Rose and Glenda Moore have graciously agreed to be coordinators of our flower ministry and beginning in May one family per week will have the opportunity to provide flowers for our Sunday morning worship services. This may be done in memory of a loved one, in honor of an occasion (ie - a special anniversary, a birth of a baby, etc.) which will be listed in the bulletin or for no special occasion with no tribute attached. There will be a “flower calendar” located in the foyer of the sanctuary where you can sign up for a specific Sunday. You will be asked to make the arrangements for getting the flowers to church on Sunday morning. (Flowers will be used for both first and second service, so please have them here prior to first service and plan to leave them until after second.) Two local florists have agreed to work with us to provide flowers and if you mention the flowers are for the Sunday morning service at GEFC a discount will be given. The florists are The Iron Door General Store and Flower Shop - 962-6864 and Sierra Flowers, 878-0349. Questions? Please contact Cavan Rose or Glenda Moore.
The Food Closet is open the Friday following the third Tuesday every month. Donations of canned items, personal hygiene products, and household cleaning items are always appreciated. If you would care to donate any of these items, they can be left in the kitchen or call us and we will arrange to get them from you.
We can't thank the members fo this congregation enough for their continued generosity and their donations of food and funds for the Food Closet, and we so appreciate our many faithful and hard-working volunteers. The Lord has truly blessed this ministry.
Two members of our church family are collecting and redeeming aluminum cans and California redemption value plastic bottles and giving proceeds to GEFC. If you'd like to make donations contact Mike Buckley or Dick Faux (phone numbers avaialable via the church office). You can drop items at their homes.
We are not collecting these items at the church, but if you wish to make a vehicle-to-vehicle transfer on Sunday morning, call Mike ahead and time and set up an appointment.
